Maha Upadesh of Aadishri; Part – 27

(Aadishri Arun)

Have you ever wondered that what is it about you that keeps you attached to this life and this body? What gives you the sense of self-I, Me, Mine?

Friends the one that creates this sense of attachment is your mind. Let me assure you that even though the mind is not visible to the five senses, it is very much part of the body. In fact it is the most powerful aspect of your physical being.

So friends lets us study the mind since the mind is not only the creator of your world but it is also the one that misleads and misdirects you when it is not aligned to your soul. The reality is that the mind of the ordinary person-which is ruled by fear and desire, constantly weaves new fantasies and the ordinary person lives in a world that is nowhere close to the real Truth. In this way the mind deludes the individual soul, which remains trapped in wheel of karma.

This is why it is always said by enlightened beings that we should develop the power of discernment and develop the ability to see beyond the fantasies of the mind.

No doubt the mind is a powerful tool at our disposal but it works positively only when it listens to the wisdom of the soul. I.e the mind is a great servant but a very bad master and we must always use it in consonant with the soul’s wisdom. The mind is like a powerful computer and it can give phenomenal results but just like a computer, if garbage data is fed in it then only garbage results will be spewed out.

Basically the mind takes whatever is the feeling that the being has inside their heart and tries to express it. So if you are fearful, then the mind will expand the fear and make it real. If you are joyful, then the mind will create situations full of joy and it you are full of desire then the mind will try to fulfill your desires. That is the basic job of the mind-to bring to fruition whatever it is that you believe.

This is why it is extremely important to have those qualities that come from beyond the mind-love, intuition and wisdom. Because then the mind will act to bring those qualities to life.

Dear friend, let me assure you that the desire to see God face to face is hard-wired into the soul of every person. Yet very few have ever seen God. Why is that? The answer is that because what we need to see God is not our physical eyes but a mind that is aligned to the right direction. A mind whose inner eye is open can see God but most of us are not at that level. In fact most of us are at that pathetic level where even if God stood in front of us in physical form, we would not recognize Him.

Then there is the question of how to live in this world and in our particular circumstances. Most humans believe in God but they also have to live and struggle in the world.

Thus all of us have two masters. One is God and the other is this world where we have to live and survive.  This is our struggle- trying to make ends meet and also trying to find God in our lives. Thus we are like the person who has his feet in two boats. Such a person can find neither get God, nor happiness in this world.

This is the difficulty that most of us face in our lives but if we remember to worship God even as we do our daily work, then the task will not be so difficult.  Thus even though we live and work in this world, if our attention and devotion is fixed on Paraatma, then we will get success in our attempts to see God face to face.

Friends we also must understand the basic nature of the body and the mind if we want to succeed in life.

The body is like a chariot that is pulled by the horses of your five senses. The charioteer or the driver of this vehicle is the mind. And the passenger that is sitting within the chariot is the soul.

The job of the senses(the horses) is to observe the visions of the world and attract the mind towards them. These observations of the senses are directed to the mind which then directs the chariot-the body, towards whatever attracts the mind

The soul is the passenger that experiences whatever is the scene through which the chariot travels. This is the nature of the body and mind complex.

As we observe this system of operation, we observe that the mind constantly inundated by the senses, runs here and there dictated by desire and fear, constantly swaying from direction to direction.

But what would happen if the soul-the owner/passenger takes charge? Then the chariot would proceed smoothly under the instructions of the owner rather than running here and there.

So friends, my advice to all of you is to take charge of your own vehicles and take it where you find everlasting happiness and peace. Don’t let the mind take you on a wayward journey of sensory experiences. If you let the mind dictate your life journey, you will constantly be lost on the wheel of karma, reacting from situation to situation but if you mind is in your control then you will go where you can find true peace, joy and happiness-your true destination. (Git 6:34)

Friends, you may find the mind rebellious and difficult to control but the task is not impossible. The mind can be controlled when struck by the swords of discipline and detachment.

So whenever the senses try to overwhelm the mind and you find the mind  swayed, you should use your willpower to get it back on track. This may happen many times but if we are able to get it back on track every time, we will make progress.

This constant practice of discipline is called using the first sword.

To succeed in this practice the other sword-that of detachment is also required. The reason is that the mind constantly seeks to enjoy pleasure and to avoid pain and the mind constantly turns to those things that it is attached to.  So you may discipline it a 100 times but still you may fail because the mind, till is detached, will always turn back to what gives it pleasure. Thus only when the mind realizes that all the pleasures it seeks are false( only mirages), till then it will keep going back to indulge in worldly pleasures.

These pleasures, desires and indulgences are caused through the intake of Sansaar through the senses and it is an inevitable part of life since this intake cannot be shut off. Also we must remember that the world has been made by God for our pleasure so there is no harm in enjoying this playground called life. So we should take pleasure and happiness in enjoying all aspects of this world through the senses but we must always remember the Creator of this world even as we enjoy the pleasures of this world. This sense of perspective is the keel that keeps our boat straight in the ocean of Sansaar.

When you do this-put your attention on God, even as you live in this world, you achieve true happiness, peace and joy. (Gita 6:15)

Maha Upadesh of Aadishri; Part – 26

(Aadishri Arun)

O man, there is only one condition to be self realized- that we put all our attention; intelligent; wisdom and devotion on God. Lord Krishna clearly says to Arjuna in the Gita that if you do this, soon you will reside within me. (Gita 12:8)

Today, I Aadishri, am repeating the same age-old truth because that is the eternal truth. This Truth stands from time immemorial and it never changes.  And that’s the difference between you & Me -that my soul remembers this eternal Truth while yours has forgotten it.

Because you are swaying in your attention between the world and God, you don’t get success in meditation as all kinds of thoughts impinge and they break your focus while you meditate. Many people who are disturbed by their thoughts in their attempts to meditate, ask me about some method by which they can quiet their minds.

To help you I will describe a technique, that will quieten you mind and concentrate your focus, and which upon faithful practice will take you towards success.

To process of quietening the mind requires many steps. There has to be physical, mental and emotional quietness. The first step is to make the body comfortable. The body should not be giving painful or uncomfortable sensations. If the body is not healthy, then it is an essential requirement that we make the body healthy and flexible before we meditate since our body will prevent us from progressing.

The second step is to gradually withdraw our attention from the outer to the inner world. We must sit in a place that is relatively free from outer sounds and sensations since even our senses tend to pull us outward. Once we achieve these two states-physical and sensory quietness, then we are ready to start the inward journey.

Why should we look within? Why cant we find God in the outer world, since He is everywhere? The answer is straightforward. Our soul-a living throbbing piece of God, resides within us and the simplest and easiest way to connect to God is through our own soul, since it is closest to us. Why look outside in this case?

So friends! To know ourselves truly, we only need to look within and not outside.

All religions of the world agree that this universe has been created out of the combination of two basic elements-Purush and Prakriti. Prakriti is everywhere and it can be observed through our senses but the Purush-the spirit cannot be seen through the five senses or even be figured out from the mind, intellect or even wisdom since the spirit lies beyond the per-view of even the mind.

The soul that lies within us has been described as a glorious body that is essential to give us life. Our problems start when we forget this source of life within us and instead focus on the outside world for our sustenance.

The nature of the outer world is that it is a constantly, ever changing flux. Like a mirage it tempts and misleads and it can offer only temporary solutions at best. The moment we recognize this basic fact, we are free of suffering because, then we will never be emotionally or physically dependent on something that is inherently unstable and constantly changing.

The genuine recognition of the eternal nature of the spirit and the ever changing nature of creation(Maya), leads to liberation because it becomes clear to us that the spirit is essentially one and that all beings are carrying the same divine spark. All differences and classifications such as caste, religion, sex and even species, disappears because it becomes obvious to the realized person that all beings are essentially made of the same soul-stuff. The only difference between two beings is their level of delusion and their sense of identification with their physical and mental self. That means that a cow is a soul that thinks it is a cow, a rock is a soul that thinks it is a rock and so on and so forth.

Thus the goal of meditation is to go beyond this narrow sense of identification and see all beings as essentially One.

So friends, still your body and mind and observe this truth within. You will see everything that you ever wanted to see and know everything that is the Truth.

Thus meditation that starts with this realization, leads to self purification and finally leads us to become one with the almighty.

To reach this state, self purification is very important because till we are not purified, we will not be able to feel the pull of God. Just as piece of iron is naturally pulled towards a magnet, our soul too naturally gravitates towards the super-soul-God, but our being is full of impurities. If 1 kg of iron is contaminated with a 1000 kg of sand, then the magnet will not be able to pull the iron. This is what our condition is like. Too much worldly contamination weakens the pull of God. Instead we are pulled towards the world of Maya because our impurities are pulled by the counter magnet of Maya.

This above is the logic and aim of meditation. Now I will briefly describe the process.

Sit in a place-not too high, nor too low with the spine erect in a comfortable manner. The place should be neat and clean and it should also be pious place that is away from the hurly burly of life.

Fix your gaze at the tip of your nose and focus there in a manner that all directions start to disappear This will help you lose contact with your sense organs.

Do this regularly and you will make progress. Also remember that moderation of lifestyle is important. Do not do anything in extremes. Do not stuff yourself with food, neither starve yourself. Neither deprive yourself of sleep nor oversleep. (Gita 6:17)

The mind should also be balance. It should neither get over excited when something good happens, nor unduly sad when things don’t go our way.

Fluctuations of body and mind will prevent progress on the spiritual journey but for the one with steadiness in mind and body, God realization is not difficult.(Gita 6:36)

Friends also remember that this world may be illusion but it is made for our pleasure. So there is no harm in enjoying the delights of the world. Why we get trapped in illusion is when we lose the perspective. We become so indulgent in this playground, that we forget that this playground is not our home. We forget that we have come here only for some time and that our Father-God awaits our return.

So remember who you really are. You are someone who has come/ been sent to enjoy this grand creation of God. So enjoy it and then return back. If you remember this, then you will always be blissful here but if you forget this reality, you will be fated to constantly travel this wheel of karma like a merry-go-around always fluctuating between pleasure and pain, sorrow and happiness.

Patience is a Virtue. Having Virtue is a sign of a good moral being. Good moral beings have the power to overcome evil and change the world.

The Holy Bible prophesied – we all are not going to destroy due to Planet X and from other destructive weapon or from other devastating disaster but few people will able to see the evidence. This is the reason Acts 2:21 says – “…… whosoever shall call on the name of Lord shall be saved.” But meeting is only option to save the Lord’s devotees.
Presently, many false teacher are in our society, giving false message in the name of Lord Kalki. Hindus do not read Bible. Thus they have no knowledge of Bible prophesy. Christians do not read Hindu’s scriptures. So They have no knowledge of Hindu’s scriptures prophesy.  Christians themselves do not read Bible carefully thus they do not know the Biblical truth. Islamic people do not read Bible and Hindu’s scripture. Thus they do not know the real truth. Sikh do not read Bible, Kooran and Hindu’s scripture. Thus they do not know the real truth. Now question is – how many people’s life will save on this earth? We are helpless to count – “number of people”. I will say keep patience picture will come before you but chant the name of God with pure love & pure devotion. I will say boldly in respect of this truth – ” Patience is a Virtue. Having Virtue is a sign of a good moral being. Good moral beings have the power to overcome evil and change the world. “

We find our lives full of suffering and obstacles. Even as one difficulty ends, another raises its head. Man is in confusion about his fate and whether he will ever achieve happiness…

Yet I ask you a basic question. Do you really believe that your difficulties are insurmountable? That you will be defeated by them?  I advise you to ponder over this question with a bit of peace in your heart. You may realize that most of your problems are not as intractable as you thought they are. It is only your refusal to accept the results of your actions gracefully,-that is the root cause of your suffering.

If you chase all your difficulties and sorrows down to the basics, you will see that our sorrow is caused less by our circumstances and more by our attachment to certain preferred results. We are constantly opinionated about how our life should be and we get upset if something happens contrary to our expectations.

How should my husband be? How should my wife be; how should my children be? These often unspoken expectations cause constant turmoil in our life. You will find that people are mostly able to love only those people, who fulfill their expectations. And friends, that is the basis of our suffering.

As the Gita says in chapter 2 verse 62-Thwarted desires, causes anger-which leads to conflict. Anger clouds reason and leads to wrong actions.

Let me reiterate the vicious cycle which we are always repeating.

First is born desire for a certain result. And when these desires are not fulfilled-as per our expectations, anger is born. In our frustration, anger and sorrow, we take many actions that further add the load to our karmic sheet and we fall further and further into the pit that Kaal has dug for us.

We must understand that the nature of Desire is to forever be in the future. As we fulfill one desire another raises its head.

This is how the wheel of karma goes on-like a dog chasing its tail.

Friends, this is the futile struggle that most of us are engaged in. Only when we truly recognize the nature of desire can we get past it. Only then we can realize that desire should never be made the basis of action. Instead only love should be the basis of our actions and relationships.

The search for happiness has been the timeless quest of man. Everyone wants the least amount of obstacles and the maximum amount of happiness in their lives.

Yet happiness always slips out of reach…

This is the question that is there in everyone’s mind-Why is it that we are unable to reach happiness?  The answer is that we seek happiness in material things while real happiness is actually based upon the quality of our relationships.

That raises the next question-What determines the quality of our relationships? The answer is that when we accept the people in your life, without judging them or trying to moldhttp://kalkimahaavatar.in/about.aspx them to our expectations, then and only then can we be happy.

Another thing of note is that the only relationship that can be 100% pure and true is the one we have with the Creator. Only He loves us unconditionally. The rest is conditional and karmic driven.

So friends do not ignore the one true unconditional relationship we can all have. The one with God.

Please ponder over what I am saying. Only God is real, the rest of creation is variable and ever in flux. Only by being attached to the creator rather than his creation, we can find peace and happiness.

As we slowly realize this truth, not from our minds but with our hearts, a peace will dawn and our external struggles will tend to get over. We will turn inwards.

Dear friends my advice to all of you is to appreciate what you have. Look at the positives you have. You have a decent life. You have work, you have some money. It may be true that you want even more but stop your insatiable desires for a minute. First appreciate what you have. Many people in the world are much worse off.

It is because you don’t feel grateful for what you have, you block the flow of the energy of love in your life.

Only this energy of love creates abundance and happiness. Just as if the heart did not get blood, it would die similarly if this energy of love does not flow through your being, then all your abundance and relationships will wither away.

The reason for you restless and sorrow is not because you need more material objects in your life, but because the flow of love energy has been blocked by your wrong expectations.

So learn to vibrate at the frequency of love and you will find yourself happy, grateful and abundant.

Maha Upadesh of Aadishri, Part - 24 A

Surrender to God is the culmination of all the pathways to Godhead. All tools, all knowledge is useful only when the realization dawns on a person that, he is a small entity and God is vast and that by the dint of his own efforts, he as an individual cannot ever reach God. The realization dawns that it is only by the grace of God, that Godhead can be reached. Such a person surrenders to the divine will and he is liberated.

This surrender has to be total-Ego, intellect, body-attachment to all these things, has to be given up. And the motive of giving up should not be yet again another transaction. If one gives up anything because one will get God as a result, then such a desire will itself prevent surrender and realization.

A person who surrenders everything in the true spirit, without any desire for anything worldly, such a person merges with Guru and God.

Such a person, finding his true resting place, achieves happiness, contentment, detachment, patience etc on his own without having to do anything to achieve them, simply because such a person realizes the essential nature of Himself, God and the nature of existence. Being in this eternal truth such a person naturally finds peace.

The four things that need to be offered to God are-your mind; your devotion; your worship and you’re your faithful salutations. This is what is written in the Gita chapter 18 verse 65.

Have you ever wondered what prevents us from god realization?  If you study the problem in depth, you will see that it is your mind alone that prevents you from reaching the divine state. And we can cross the mind only by surrendering to something that is higher.

It is also a fact that all the disciples of a Guru do not achieve the same levels of realization. Have you wondered why?  The reason is because the level of surrender of each disciple is different.

The higher the surrender the greater the progress. It should noted that faking it does not work. Pretending to surrender will not solve the problem. It is only when you trust the Guru and his teachings completely, only then surrender becomes real and liberation achieved.

It should also be understood that surrender is not an action or karma but a state of mind and heart. As you believe so shall you become.
