Path to God-Love & Devotion – AADISHRI ARUN

Lot of devotees and God seekers complain that even after great effort, they are unable to have a direct experience of God.

What is missing is the following two things.

  1. Unconditional love for God. This expression needs elaboration. Unconditional love for God starts with unconditional love for yourself. , you must first have a strong sense of self-esteem and self-confidence. You need to feel generally good about yourself, to like yourself, and to recognize the positive qualities you bring to a relationship. It also means you can stand on your own two feet as an individual without requiring a partner to define you or complete you. You can be together with someone and still remain fully yourself — as a person you like and respect.

If you lack self- esteem  or don’t feel confident in yourself as a valuable person, then your relationship will suffer. Your insecurities will have an impact on your partner and on your mutual happiness. The best thing you can do for your relationship is to learn to love yourself. Offering unconditional love to yourself means you are able to view yourself as lovable and worthy — in spite of any perceived flaws or past mistakes.

Unconditional love is, in essence, true love — so different from the kind of love most of us have known all our lives that it deserves a definition of its own. Unconditional love is caring about the happiness of another person without any thought for what we might get for ourselves. It’s unconditional love when other people care about our happiness unconditionally

It is not unconditional love when other people like us for doing what they want or because we give them what they demand of us. Under those conditions we’re just “paying” for love in a way (or literally in some cases) with what we do to get that attention.

This then is the kind of love we need to have for ourselves and for God.

  1. Devotional Service : Devotional service, or bhakti, is the best method for achieving transcendental realization. Devotional service means trying to  please the Lord.  It is meant to give Lord happiness, and forgetting any demands that we may have.  Devotional service is the soul’s eternal constitutional propensity, the living entity’s natural characteristic. The soul has no other constitutional duty than to offer service to the Lord.

Devotional service means activities performed for the pleasure of Lord, with devotion, and ultimately not mixed with any desire for personal pleasure.

The best way to begin devotional service is to try to offer everything you do, or some portion of everything you do, to Lord. For example, if you cook, offer the food to Lord before eating. If you work, then take some of the results of your work and offer it at the temple for the seva of Lord. If you have some skills, offer to help at a temple and use your skills for the benefit of the Deity, the temple, and the devotees.

In the 12th chapter of Gita, Lord Krishna gives several different alternatives as to how to begin the process of devotional service. And He also says that even offering a little water, a fruit, or a flower with love to Him constitutes devotional service. So does prayer; specifically, chanting the mantra of Lord is devotional service, and will clean personal desire from the heart and allow you to focus on just rendering loving service to Lord.

With this kind of unconditional love for ourselves and for the Lord and then offering devotional services to the Lord, we will make steady progress on the spiritual path.

 

How to receive God’s blessings

We all want to know how to receive God’s grace and blessings.  We are told that we are children of God but most of us feel forsaken by Him.  Why is it that we are unable to experience the hand of God in our lives?  This is because we are unable to live as per the laws of blessings.

What are these laws?

The Four Laws Of God’s Blessing

  1. Our blessings should flow to others.

We are blessed not just so that we can feel good, not just so we can be happy and comfortable, but so that we will bless others. God told Abraham in Bible,  Genesis 12:2, “I will bless you … and you will be a blessing.” This is the first law of blessing: It must flow outwardly.

How do you bless others? By serving a need, whether it is physical or emotional support, financial help, or practical advice. “Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand” (Bible, Philippians 1:4).

  1. When we bless others, God takes care of our needs.

God promises that if we will concentrate on blessing others, he will take care of our needs. There’s almost nothing that God won’t do for the person who really wants to help other people. In fact, God guarantees this blessing. In Bible, Luke 18, Lord says, “I guarantee this. Anyone who gives up anything for the kingdom of God will certainly receive many times more in this life and will receive eternal life in the next world to come.”

When you care about helping other people, God assumes responsibility for your problems. And that’s a real blessing, for he’s much better at handling your difficulties than you are.

  1. Our blessings to others will come back on us.

The more you bless other people and the more you help others, the more God blesses your life. Bible, Luke 6:38 says, “Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back — given back with bonus and blessing.” You cannot out-give God. The more you try to bless other people in the world around you, the more God says, “I’m going to pour blessings out on you. We shall play a little game here. Let’s see who will win. Let’s see who can give the most. The more you bless others, the more I am going to bless you in return.”

  1. The more we’re blessed by God, the more he expects us to help others.

Lord said it this way in Bible, Luke 12: “Much is required from the person to whom much is given; much more is required from the person to whom much more is given.” We are blessed to be a blessing.

 

 

The structure of Creation

The world that we live in is bound by Kaal and has a certain lifespan. It emerges from and retreats back into the formless, endless, soundless and ever-unchanging form of the supreme Lord.

Physical creation-the world that we live in, is a many-stepped process and for the purpose of understanding can be broadly categorized into two major parts.

The first part is when the formless creator takes a form and descends into a region called Sach-khand or Satlok.  This is a three step process.  From the Anami, the Supreme Lord or AADISAT descends into Alakh and then into Sach-khand.  Sach-khand is the starting point of physical creation.  In the Sach-khand, the supreme Lord takes the form a brilliant region of light which sparkles with diamond-like jewels.  It is impossible to describe the hues and colors of this place.  Sach-khand exists eternally. It is a place that does not get destroyed even as multiple universes come to life and get annihilated.

In Sach-khand, the Supreme Lord descends and lives as Sat Purush.

The second step of creation happens as, from the body of the Sat Purush emanate brilliant beams of light that go on to create the physical universe. Each atom, of our universe is one such ray and so are all the souls that come and populate this universe.

Thus first the formless one-The Anami Purush-takes on the form of Sat Purush and then the Sat Purush takes on the multi-hued form of physical creation.  The logics of creation and blueprints are the same in both the steps, the only difference being that the creation of Sat Lok is on the large scale and the creation of the universe within that is on a much smaller scale.

The entire physical creation consists of currents that originate from the Sat Purush, enter-twining with each other in different ways to form different aspects of creation. Just as many different types of cloths can be woven out of a few basic threads, the millions of substances that we see in the universe are nothing but permutations and combinations of currents that emanate from the Sat Purush.

For example, the branches and twigs of a certain type of tree would be a certain combination of currents and another different pattern /combination of currents would create the human body. Each one of the threads or nerves is a tube through which the current of the spirit flows. This is the general principle underlying the structure of all the physical bodies in the creation.

In this manner, through the current of the spirit, that the world is created and becomes visible.  The most interesting conclusion from this knowledge is that everything-from the atoms of our bodies to our souls-we are all nothing but different combinations of the same currents that emanate from the body of the Sat Purush like beams of light.

Put another way, this means that we are living in a world that consists entirely of the Sat Purush and our souls nothing but soul-beams that emanate from the soul of the Sat Purush.

This beam descends from Sat Lok in 6 steps. It is important to note here that since this is the region of creation / annihilation, therefore it comes under the purview of Kaal.  Kaal is the timekeeper and gatekeeper, who is given the charge of keeping creation and destruction going as per the grand design.

As the beams descends from Sat Lok, they steps down through three steps or regions. These are the regions of Bhanwar Gufaa, Mahashunya (bhava sagar) and Shunya.  Collectively these three steps come under the purview of Mahakaal which is also known as the region of the positive force of Kaal. The beams then further descend through the next three steps into the physical body, which consist of Dasham Dwar (the top of the head), the region of Trikuti and that of the Jyoti Niranjan. Collectively these three steps are called the region of Negative force of Kaal.  Below this lies the regions that constitute the physical body and which go down from Sahas – dal – kamal, third eye and then to the 9 gates of the physical body down to the base of the spine.

This is an explanation of how the Anami, which is formless, first materializes as the Sat Purush – Our father, who then from His own body, creates our physical body and the entirety of our universe.  The Sat Purush then sends sparkles of his own self as individual soul-beams to reside in every pore of this universe.

This knowledge when understood and believed by us – the individual soul-beams, opens the doorways for the return journey since we now know the way.  All we have to do is to realize this eternal truth and climb back to the home of our father.
