The Lord has taken avatar on the earth in the name of kalki. He desires that His children-us-not live in sin since He Himself is sinless. It is fairly clear that in today’s time, people’s behavior and style of worship both have become careless and defective. Both kings and their subjects are living lives that are against the teachings of God and are trying to deceive the Lord. The covenant that was agreed upon between man and God has been willfully broken by man. Therefore God says very clearly to man that man must obey the wishes of God and implement them in his daily life. He also clearly says that man should not be corrupt and nor try to make the image of God corrupt since God can never be corrupt.
God further says that He can never allow the corrupt and the sinful to be in His presence. The acts of God can never be in sin especially because God never acts for His own interests. There is nothing in the universe that the Lord may want and that may be denied to Him, therefore God doesn’t need to act to get anything but the people are not like that. They are full of sin since they desire objects and will adopt any means to get them. This is the reason that man is never free of sin since he is ready to adapt any means to get what he desires. There is sin even in his worship of God since even that is full of desire for worldly objects. God says that He will purify this sinful nature of man. When the Lord came to the earth as Kalki He knew that the correct way to worship Him was not well known. When the Lord came and took form as kalki, He became visible to the angels and His name spread amongst the population and the world believed in Him.
In Lord’s Plan we had discerned the four essential pillars of knowledge that show us the path to the true nature of reality. This helps us get the right perspective on how to discover our true potential and to reach our divine nature. Let us take the discussion to its conclusion.
We will start by summarizing the four pillars of essential knowledge. What are they?
That there is nothing apart from the Lord and everything was created from within a portion of the Lord.
- That the Lord created this universe to have someone to love and to experience that love
- That after creating the material universe, He permeated a spark of Himself inside each pore of the universe. We call each of that spark an individual soul.
- Each of us is one of those divine sparks. That divine spark takes on a material body of its choosing, to experience a particular part of this creation that it feels attached to. And the Lord experiences and enjoys this creation through the eyes of each of the trillions of individual souls He has created.
When we understand the nature of this truth, not theoretically, but from the heart then we understand the nature of the universe, the nature of the Lord and our role in this divine play-Leela. The fact is that the Lord is the only ever-constant reality and this universe has been created by him so that he may experience it and enjoy it through us.
Once we realize this reality – that only God is real and this universe is an ever-changing finite entity that has no real basis, our soul yearns to be back to our true home. For that we have to free ourselves from the limitations of our mind and body. The body is relatively easy to control but the mind is a difficult thing to be free off. The mind is constantly invaded and tormented by the six twisters. What are these six Twisters?-They are-Lust, Anger, Selfish Love, Greed, the Ego and fear. Whatever we see and experience in this world comes through this filter of the mind which distorts the truth of what we see. We are never free of the influence of the mind. An example will make the impact of the mind clear. Once there was a child who was hit by a car and injured badly. The colour of the car was a bright red, a colour that most children love. Time passed, the child’s injuries healed but even many years after the accident, even when he had reached adulthood, whenever he would see a red car, the man would get panic stricken. The reason was that his mind remembered and associated that red car with the pain he had experienced. This is the impact of our mind and we are constantly impacted by the world around us through the prism of this mind, its memories and associations and we are never truly free of its influence. In such a situation how can we ever be free? How can we see the truth? How can we get out of the reactionary mode of our past memories and attachments?
The only way to do it is by changing the direction of our attention. What is attention? Attention is the focus that we put on one object out of the many objects that we could put our focus on. The key thing here is choice. The reason we choose one particular object over another is because we desire that object. Thus attention is always driven by desire. We focus our attention on what we desire. Most of us, most of the time, focus on the external world and on external objects because we desire to experience this world and the objects that we are attached to. As mentioned in part 2, this is the prime method by which Kaal-the keeper of creation maintains this creation.
But what if chose to redirect our attention somewhere else? What if we focussed our attention on God? This would be the key to our salvation. The choice is ours. We can choose to take away our attention from this external world and instead focus in on the Lord who resides within us. That is the path to our liberation.
This can either be the most difficult thing to do or it can be the easiest thing to do. It would be difficult to do if we thought that this world was all there is and if we were deeply attached to the objects of this world. In that case we would never be able to put our attention on the Lord but if on the other hand we understood the true nature of reality as enumerated above, we would find it rather easy to focus on the Creator instead of the created.
When this transformation happens in us our personality would change. We would show it by…
- By abandoning falsehood and deceit, since these belong to this world and have nothing to do with God. We also do as we promise to do. “By living according to Your word.”(Bible, Psalm 119:9)
- By constantly focussing on God and seeking Him with all our feelings, because we love Him. “I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands.”(Bible, Psalm 119:10)
- By never going against our father’s wishes, not because we fear Him but because we love Him. “I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”(Bible, Psalm 119:11)
- By praising the Lord since he is the only praiseworthy by far. “Praise be to you, O LORD; teach me Your decrees.”(Bible, Psalm 119:12)
- By always speaking about the Lord wishes and desire to other people who also seek him. “With my lips I recount all the laws that come from Your mouth.”(Bible, Psalm 119:13)
- By feeling happy when we fulfil God’s wishes. “I rejoice in following Your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.”(Bible, Psalm 119:14)
- By always thinking about God, His wishes and ways by which we could come closer and closer to Him. “I meditate on Your precepts and consider Your ways.”(Bible, Psalm 119:15)
- By enjoying fulfilling His wishes and commandments. “I delight in Your decrees; I will not neglect Your word.(Bible, Psalm 119:16)
The essentials steps in a nutshell are that when we love God we will automatically focus our attention on Him by
(1) Seeking God with all our heart
(2) Hiding God’s Word in our heart
(3) Meditating on God’s precepts
(1) Seeking God with all our heart: – What does it mean to seek God with all Your heart?
It means to desire Him, want Him, and need Him above any and every other desire, want, or need. The heart is the seat of emotions, of desire (Bible, Rom. 10:1), Love (Bible, Mark 12:30, 33), Reason (Bible, Mark 2:8), belief (Bible, Rom. 10:10), trust (Bible, Prov. 3:5), and it is from the heart that you are to do God’s will (Bible, Eph. 6:6), etc. It is with all of what you are that you are to seek God. With Your entire being. “Love the Lord Your God with all Your heart and with all Your soul and with Your entire mind,” (Bible, Matth. 22:37). The Son of God said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command,” (Bible, John 14:15). It is David’s love for God that motivates Him to obey what God commands. That is why He says – “do not let me stray from Your commands,”
(2) Hiding God’s Word in Your heart: – How do you hide God’s Word in Your heart?
(i) You memorize. So that the Holy Spirit can bring it to Your remembrance when you need it.
So you can then be comforted, corrected, and guided. When God’s Word is hidden in Your heart? You won’t sin against Him. “…So that I might not sin against you,”
The Bible keeps you from sin. Sin keeps you from the Bible.
(ii) The Word of God is light. When God’s Word is hidden in Your heart, praises come out of it. “Praise be to you, O LORD.” When God’s Word is hidden in Your heart, you speak of God and His Word.
(iii) With my lips I recount all the laws that come from Your mouth. “With my lips I have declared all the judgments that come from Your mouth.” The man says, “With my lips I have told of all the ordinances of Thy mouth.”
(iv)When God’s word is hidden in you, rejoicing flows out of you. I rejoice in following Your statutes,” A statute is a formal rule or regulation like the dietary laws. And how might you rejoice? “As one rejoices in great riches,” How would you react if you won the Lottery? With great riches there is exultation.
(3) Meditating on God’s precepts: – What does it mean to meditate on God’s Word?
It means to “consider” God’s ways. To consider means to “regard or pay attention to.”It means to think over and over about Scripture. It means to try to discover new depths to its meaning, new applications of its truth. It means to make it a part of you . You may delight in God’s decrees and not neglect His word
In conclusion, this can be applied to the physical heart. But it also refers to the spiritual center of life. It is where thoughts, desires, sense of purpose, will, understanding, and character reside. So, to be pure in heart means to be blameless in who we actually are. Being pure in heart involves having a singleness of heart toward God. A pure heart has no hypocrisy, no guile, no hidden motives. The pure heart is marked by transparency and an uncompromising desire to please God in all things. It is more than an external purity of behavior; it is an internal purity of soul.
Surat Shabd Yoga is a spiritual meditative practice, which is based on the concept of inner light and celestial sound. Surat Shabd Yoga is also called ‘Sahaj Yoga’, ‘the path of light and sound’, ‘the path of the sants’ and ‘the yoga of sound currents’.
Aim Of Surat Shabd Yoga:
‘Surat’ means ‘attention’ which is how the soul outwardly expresses itself. ‘Shabd’ literally means ‘word’. In Surat Shabd Yoga, the term ‘word’ signifies the music of the soul. ‘Yoga’ means ‘union’. And that is the main purpose of Surat Shabd Yoga – the union of the soul with the essence of the absolute Supreme Being, using the dynamic force of creative energy surrounding the universe in the form of sound vibrations. The aim of Surat Shabd Yoga meditation is to help the individual in realizing his true divine self. Liberating the soul from the cycle of life and death, Surat Shabd Yoga helps in achieving enlightenment and ultimately, moksha.
Surat Shabd Yoga is the science of the soul. This meditation is also called ‘Sadhna’ as it leads to moksha. Surat Shabd Yoga believes that initiation by a Satguru is a must for a successful sadhna. This surat shabd yoga meditation technique is a simple process, but it needs practice to master it.
There are five sound and five Brahm to atttain the goal which are as below:
DHVANYATMAK AUM – SAT LOK – VEENA / BAG PIPE
SOHAM BRAHM – BHRAWAR GUPHA – FLUTE
RA RAM BRAHM – DASAM DWAR – SARANGI / SITAR
MAYA BRAHM – TRIKUTI – THUNDER / DRUM / MRIDANG
JYOTI NIRANJAN – SAHASRAAR – BELL, CONCH
THIRD EYE –
AGYA CHAKRA /JUNCTION OF IDA, PINGLA & SUSHUMNA
There are five step for a successful sadhna – 1. Time, 2. Position & Comfort, 3. Dhyana, 4. Simran and 5. Bhajan.
Although this meditation could be done anytime and anywhere, Ishwar Putra Arun advises to meditate early in the morning, before breakfast and possibly before sunrise and also just before you go to bed at night. Make it a regular habit. This helps in becoming adept at this form of meditation. With regular practice, you can perfect it and then can do the meditation successfully whenever you need or want to do it.
2. Position & Comfort:
Next step in this meditation is position and comfort. It is recommended that you do this meditation, like all other kinds of meditation, in a comfortable position. You need to relax your body to divert your attention from the outer world and turn it inwards. You can sit in a comfortable chair, or in Sukhasana or in padmasana or in Vajrasana. But keep your back straight and do not let it slouch. Comfort does not mean hunching your body as that interferes with breathing.
Next step in this meditation is dhyana or concentration. Close your eyes and relax your body. Let your breathing be natural; do not interfere. Let your consciousness leave your physical body and try to take it away from the mental mess in your mind. Concentrate on the dark screen that you see in your mind and concentrate at the eye center. Slowly you’ll hear the inner sounds, the inner music, the shabd. Ggradually that dark veil will get replaced by colors and light.
Simran means repetition of the Naam. This could be OM, Om Namo Narayana, Om Triyug Devai namah, Allah Hul, Vahe Guru, Jesus, or any name that you believe can
lead your mind out of the chaos. Our mind is like a butterfly, it is restless. Simran is the key to make it focus and open the door to our inner being. Surat Shabd Yoga believes in the ‘Panch Naam’ mentioned by the ancient gurus in the scriptures. Keep repeating the Naam to guide your mind out of the chaos brewing inside your brain.
Bhajan here means the music of the soul. This step helps in listening to that music. Squat down in Malasana, also known as Bhajan Pose in Surat Shabd Yoga, and put your thumbs in your ears to block all kind of external noise. Focus on the seat of your soul, your Ajna Chakra and slowly you’ll start listening to the inner sound. When you will successfully complete Dhyan, Simran and Bhajan, then you will merge with the celestial sound and the divine light.
